Bio
Mongolia began as yet another solo project of Nick Wilson, demonstrating the more serious personality in his musical schizophrenia. Mongolia began in 2003 bearing heavy overtones of This Heat and Joy Division. In 2004, Wilson recorded the album Disequilibrium, a perhaps his darkest, murkiest and most experimental album.
The following year, Wilson changed the name of that project to War of Nerves and halfway-completed a less dark, more song-based followup album, Heaven is Electric before abandoning it due mainly to four-track technical difficulties. (These difficulties also marked the end of Wilson's four-track recordings. Afterwards he moved to digital production using the four-track in a complementary manner.) See related projects to hear War of Nerves tracks from "Disequilibrium."
In 2005, Wilson renewed the Mongolia moniker, recording two songs "Macquarie Island" and "Rainy Tangled Lanes" bearing a very different sound, more accessible and atmospheric, but sad and pretty. The song "Hey Sunflower" followed in 2007, as did a live performance with Jade Stephens (Warm Erasers, Carrot Eaters, Shoesies) on bass and Brian Hedgepeth (Warm Erasers) on drums.
In 2008, Mongolia made the transition from solo project to band, with the addition of Bradford Jackson (drums), David Shackelford (guitar, bass, keyboards, sampler) and Connor Stratman (guitar). They are in the process of putting together new recordings and live shows in the Dallas area.
