Bio
Anti-twee project Shoesies recalls the minimalist aesthetic and sing-along sarcasm of bands like Beat Happening and the Vaselines. They celebrate hatred of springtime, napalm and pedophile dentists and hold irreverent views towards religion. Their nature is ambiguous, half band and half yet another Nick Wilson solo project. Actually, the true story is that the rest of the band members never bothered to show up to finish their four-song e.p. and Wilson was too lazy to ask them to come over, and thus it became a solo project by default. That's also why Everybody Hates Shoesies is bassless, violinless, clarinetless and female-vocalless. Good job, folks. The e.p. is presented here for free because it would probably be exploitative to sell something this lazy, but it's too fun to leave in the vaults somewhere.
However there was actually a live performance by the full band, which included Jade Stephens (bass), Shaina Kapeluck (violin), Candace Anthony (clarinet) and Brian Hedgepeth (drums). Maybe someday Shoesies will walk again, but hopefully not.
